Valve 40490 is a complete repair or replacement set for the working pressure regulation assembly in the Kranzle pressure washer pump. The set contains all components required for a full rebuild of the assembly:

Application

The valve is mounted in the hydraulic block of the pump, on the path between the pressure chamber and the working outlet. The control piston 14134, guided in guide 42105, responds to pressure on the gun side – with the gun open, water flows through the working circuit; with the gun closed, the piston switches flow to bypass and water returns to the inlet circuit without loading the pump pistons. Knob 40457 changes the pre-tension of valve spring 14125, which sets the switching pressure between working mode and bypass. Needle bearing 14146 allows smooth rotation of the knob under spring load without excessive resistance. Parbaks seals 16mm and 8mm and O-ring 16x2 seal the control piston on both sides of its guide.

Symptoms – when to replace

  • Pressure regulation no longer possible – the knob turns without effect or pressure remains constant regardless of the setting.
  • The pump does not switch to bypass after the gun is closed – pressure rises above normal, and the motor operates under increased load in the closed circuit.
  • Spontaneous switching to bypass during operation with the gun open – working pressure drops and recovers irregularly without any change to the knob setting.
  • Water leak from the valve area under working pressure – worn Parbaks seals or the control piston O-ring.
  • Hard, seized or uneven knob rotation – worn needle bearing 14146 or damaged knob mechanism.

How to select the right part

Identify by reference number 40490. Regulating valves differ between pump models in pressure regulation range, control piston geometry and connection configuration – a replacement with a different number may not fit physically or may give a different regulation range.

If only one component of the set is damaged – for example, only knob 40457 or cap 40458 – check whether these parts are available as separate items. When the control piston, guide or seals are damaged, replacing the complete set 40490 is more reliable than sourcing individual components for a worn body.

After installation, always set the working pressure from scratch – a new component has factory spring tension which may differ from the previous setting.
