The hose reel connector is a small component in the reel axis, forming an assembly with the rotary water connection. Original Kränzle number: 40308 (written 40.308 in older catalogs). In parts catalogs it appears under the name Anschlussteil or Anschlussstück – it is the same item.
Application
A component fitted in the high-pressure hose reel, in the axis through which water passes from the unit to the hose on the reel. In catalog drawings it sits next to the rotary joint (Drehgelenk 40.167), the spacer ring (40.316) and the sealing O-ring. It fits reels from Kränzle therm CA pressure washers (versions with a reel), and according to parts catalogs also the quadro 599 / 799 / 899 TST and quadro 800 / 1000 / 1200 series.
Symptoms – when to replace
- Leak or moisture in the reel axis, especially when working with the hose unrolled.
- Damaged thread or deformed seal seat – the nut can't be tightened fully.
- Cracked connector body after an impact or after overtightening.
- The leak returns after replacing the O-ring, which points to a damaged sealing surface in the connector itself.
How to choose the right part
- By number: 40308. Number 403081 (40.308 1) is a different item – don't order it interchangeably.
- By unit model: check whether your reel comes from a therm CA, quadro 599/799/899 TST or quadro 800/1000/1200 pressure washer.
- By the removed part: compare the thread, length and shape of the seal seat. The catalog doesn't give thread dimensions, so comparison with the original is the most reliable.
- When replacing, also check the O-ring and spacer ring in the same assembly – a worn seal gives the same symptom as a damaged connector.
Compatibility
Kränzle parts catalogs list number 40.308 in the hose reels of: therm CA (versions with a reel; the current catalog gives 11/130 T and 12/150 T, the older one also 15/120), quadro 599 TST / 799 TST / 899 TST and quadro 800 TST / 1000 TS/TST / 1200 TS/TST. It doesn't appear in the reels of therm 870-1, 875-1, 895-1, 1165-1 or therm-RP. Not interchangeable with number 403081.

How does 40308 differ from 403081?|They are two separate items. 403081 is listed in the B series reels (in the old B 170–270 T catalog as 40.308 1) and according to the seller has an R1/4 male x M22x1.5 male thread. Don't order it based on the name "reel connector" alone.
The reel drips at the axis, but the connector looks fine. What should I check first?|The O-ring at the rotary joint and the spacer ring. Only if the leak returns after replacing them, or the sealing surface is damaged, replace the connector itself.
Does the connector need replacing together with the rotary joint 40167?|There's no such requirement, they are separate catalog items. Since the reel axis is already taken apart, assess both parts and the seals, and replace only those showing wear.
