Plug 42026 is a brass component closing a valve channel in the valve block of the Kranzle pressure washer pump. The external thread M24×1.5 screws into the valve block bore, sealing the valve chamber under the pump's working pressure. The hexagon head for SW22 wrench (22mm open-end or ring wrench) allows secure tightening and removal without risk of the tool slipping. The brass body provides corrosion resistance under constant contact with working water and eliminates the risk of galvanic corrosion at the contact with an aluminium valve block.

Application

The plug is mounted in the valve block bore – it closes the channel leading to the valve chamber from the outside. It carries the pump's full working pressure at its mounting position. Brass is a typical material for fastening and valve components in hydraulic systems exposed to water – it does not corrode under prolonged contact with working water and does not seize in aluminium seats the way unprotected steel does.

Replaced during valve block service, when the M24×1.5 thread is damaged, or when the plug leaks under working pressure.

Symptoms – when to replace

  • Water leak at the plug during pump operation – under working pressure or immediately after it drops.
  • Damaged M24×1.5 thread – the plug does not run in smoothly or shows play after tightening to the nominal torque.
  • Stripped or damaged head hex – a secure grip with SW22 wrench is no longer possible without risk of rounding the edges.
  • Plug has loosened spontaneously under pump vibration – insufficient tightening torque or a damaged thread.
  • Visible corrosion or pitting on the sealing surface – possible despite brass in the presence of aggressive cleaning agents or water at extreme pH.

How to select the right part

Identify by reference number 42026 and thread M24×1.5. M24×1.5 is a fine metric thread – do not confuse it with M24×2 (standard metric thread) or inch threads at 3/4" with a similar diameter. A pitch of 1.5mm at M24 is a fine thread – it runs in with clearly different resistance than M24×2 in the same bore.

Brass material is an integral feature of this plug – when ordering a replacement, confirm the material. A steel plug in an aluminium valve block under constant water contact can lead to galvanic corrosion that is difficult to distinguish from normal thread wear.

When replacing the plug, assess the sealing method – whether the plug seals through the thread (PTFE tape or paste) or through a face element (washer, O-ring). Check the removed component before ordering.

Why is the plug made of brass rather than steel – is brass more durable in this application?|Brass in contact with working water does not corrode under conditions typical of pressure washer pumps – with mains water and standard detergents. What wrench to use with an SW22 plug, and how to avoid slipping when tightening?|SW22 is a 22mm open-end or ring wrench – with a brass plug, prefer a ring wrench or 22mm socket, which engage all six sides of the head hex. An open-end wrench grips only two faces and can slip and round the edges at the torque required for a brass hex head. Brass is softer than steel – do not use adjustable wrenches or unprotected pliers, which can deform the head edges.

How does thread M24×1.5 differ from M24×2, and how to check the correct pitch before ordering?|M24×1.5 is a fine metric thread with a 1.5mm pitch – meaning one full turn advances the plug by 1.5mm. M24×2 is the standard metric thread with a 2mm pitch at the same diameter. Screwing an M24×2 plug into an M24×1.5 bore is impossible – the threads will not engage correctly. Check the pitch with a calliper on the removed plug or with a thread gauge before ordering if you are unsure of the variant.
