Nypel 1/4 - M14x1,5

Nipple 41042 is a straight Ermeto fitting connecting the hydraulic installation of the Kranzle pressure washer pump to a hydraulic tube with an external diameter of 8mm. On the installation side it screws in with an external taper thread R1/4" (BSPT); on the tube side it accepts an 8mm tube via an Ermeto fitting with an M14x1.5 nut. It carries the washer's working pressure at the connection point between the threaded component and the metal Ermeto tube – without a thread on the tube itself, the seal is achieved by mechanical deformation of the ferrule when the nut is tightened.

Application

The nipple is mounted in the R1/4" threaded bore of a hydraulic circuit component in the pump, where connection of a metal 8mm tube is required. The R1/4" taper thread seals on the thread flanks when tightened – characteristically, resistance increases with each successive turn. The Ermeto 8mm side connects the nipple to a hydraulic tube with an external diameter of 8mm, and the M14x1.5 nut presses the ferrule which permanently deforms onto the tube at first assembly.

Replaced when the R1/4" thread is damaged, the Ermeto connection leaks on the tube side, or the nipple body corrodes.

Symptoms – when to replace

• Leak at the R1/4" thread on the installation side – damaged or worn taper thread flanks do not seal at normal tightening torque.
• Leak on the Ermeto side with the M14x1.5 nut tightened – damaged ferrule on the tube or deformed tapered seat in the nipple body.
• Mechanical damage to the body – cracking or deformation, particularly from removal attempts without the correct wrench.
• Body corrosion beyond the surface layer – pitting or cracking in the area of contact with the working fluid.
• Deformed wrench hex on the nipple body – secure removal without risking damage to the thread in the pump housing is no longer possible.

How to select the right part

Three parameters must match simultaneously: external taper thread R1/4" on the installation side, tube size 8mm and Ermeto nut thread M14x1.5. Changing any one of them means a different part.

Most common ordering mistakes:

Ermeto nipple 6mm (M12x1.5) vs 8mm (M14x1.5) – both look similar, they differ in the Ermeto seat size and nut thread. Nut M14x1.5 for 8mm tube and nut M12x1.5 for 6mm tube are not interchangeable. Before ordering, measure the external diameter of the tube the nipple works with.

R1/4" taper (BSPT) vs G1/4" parallel (BSPP) – nearly identical external thread diameter, different taper angle. Check the thread type in the installation bore: a taper thread enters progressively tighter with each successive turn; a parallel thread has uniform resistance throughout.
