The drum rotates during hose winding and unwinding, but the pressure washer hydraulic installation remains stationary. Swivel connector 40167 resolves this – it transfers working pressure between the fixed side and the rotating drum, allowing it to spin freely without twisting the hose or interrupting water flow.

Application

The connector is mounted on the outer side of the drum – on the closing side where the drum connects to the pressure washer hydraulic installation.

Symptoms – When to Replace

  • Water leakage from the connector area at the drum side wall – during operation or immediately after the washer is stopped.
  • Stiff drum rotation when winding the hose – seizure or increased friction in the joint.
  • Leakage persisting despite replacing the seals alone – worn seal seat in the connector body.
  • Leakage appearing cyclically at a specific drum position.

How to Select the Correct Part

The basis for selection is reference number 40167. The drum swivel connector is a precision hydraulic component – the connection dimensions, seal geometry, and method of attachment to the drum wall must match the specific Kranzle drum model. Before ordering, check whether the drum shows visible signs of modification or repair in the connector area – non-standard interventions may change the required component variant. If the connector is being replaced due to leakage, assess the condition of the seal seat in the drum wall at the same time.

[faq]

Does leakage from the swivel connector always mean the entire connector must be replaced, or can the seal alone be replaced?|If the seal seat is in good condition, replacing the seal alone may be sufficient. If the surface is worn, scratched, or pitted, a new seal will not provide a lasting seal and the leak will return. When disassembling, assess the condition of the seat before deciding on the scope of the repair.

Does resistance when rotating the drum always indicate a problem with the swivel connector?|Not always. Resistance can also result from a damaged drum axle bearing, the hose catching on housing components, or a blocked winding mechanism.

Does removing the swivel connector require depressurising the entire drum hydraulic system?|Yes. The connector is a pressure component of the hydraulic circuit – before removal, switch off the washer, release pressure from the system by pressing the gun trigger, and make sure there is no residual pressure in the installation. Removing the connector under pressure risks a sudden water discharge and damage to the seat in the drum wall.
