Reel Drive Shaft

The reel drive shaft is the shaft on which the drive mechanism for the high-pressure hose reel's rotation is mounted on Kränzle quadro 599 TST and 799 TST units. Number 46204 applies to the older version of the reel lock (brake) – newer units use a different design of this mechanism and a different shaft.

Application

The shaft is fitted in the reel structure's side panel, on the drive side, and works together with the older version of the reel lock/brake. It transfers rotary motion from the crank to the entire hose-winding mechanism, while also enabling the lock to engage, holding the reel stationary when not in use.

Symptoms – when to replace

• The reel doesn't turn despite the crank being turned – the shaft is slipping or sheared
• The reel lock doesn't hold – the reel unwinds on its own despite the brake being engaged
• Play between the shaft and the drive mechanism – noticeable "dead" turns of the crank
• Bent or warped shaft – the reel turns unevenly, with resistance at one point
• Corroded or seized shaft hindering free rotation
