The integrated dipstick allows oil level checking without disassembly or additional tools – simply unscrew the cap and read the level on the dipstick. It combines two functions in one component: sealing the filler opening and monitoring oil level during operation.
The cap is mounted in the oil filler opening of the pump crankcase. During operation it seals the opening and prevents contaminants from entering the oil. The dipstick is submerged in the oil – after unscrewing and reading the level, the cap is screwed back in by hand without any tools. In Kranzle pumps, regular oil level monitoring is important due to the intensity of use and the long operating cycles typical of workshop and service applications.

Oil caps differ between pump models primarily in thread type and size, and in dipstick length – a cap with the wrong thread can be forced in, but the connection will not seal and will damage the thread in the pump body. Should the oil level on the dipstick be checked cold or after the pump has warmed up?|Always check the oil level on a cold pump – before starting or after waiting several minutes following shutdown. On a hot pump the oil is expanded and churned by the connecting rod action – the reading is higher than the actual level at rest. A cold measurement gives a reliable result and is the standard procedure for oil checks in piston pumps.
What happens when the pump operates with a loose or missing cap?|A leaking cap allows oil vapour to escape and contaminants to enter – dust, moisture and water during intensive outdoor use. The result is faster oil degradation and possible contamination of the lubrication circuit. A completely unscrewed cap during operation risks oil ejection due to vibration and crankshaft rotation. Neither of these scenarios damages the pump immediately, but both significantly shorten oil service life and reduce the required oil change interval.
