Plug 42032 is a brass component closing an R1/2" bore in the valve block or pump housing of the Kranzle pressure washer. The external taper thread R1/2" (BSPT – British Standard Pipe Taper) screws into the bore and seals through progressively tighter thread engagement when tightened – without a separate face seal. The brass body provides corrosion resistance under constant contact with working water and safe operation in contact with aluminium pump components.

Application

The plug is mounted in a bore with an internal R1/2" thread in the valve block or pump housing – closing an unused hydraulic channel, service port or connection not required in a given pump configuration. The taper nature of the R1/2" thread means the plug enters progressively tighter with each successive turn – tightening produces increasing resistance that signals progressive sealing, not the mechanical stop encountered with a parallel thread.

Replaced when the thread is damaged, the connection leaks, or the brass body is mechanically damaged.

Symptoms – when to replace

  • Water leak at the R1/2" thread during pump operation – the taper thread does not seal correctly with damaged or worn flanks.
  • Plug has loosened under pump vibration – insufficient tightening torque or worn taper thread flanks.
  • Visible corrosion or pitting on the thread – possible despite brass in the presence of aggressive cleaning agents or water at extreme pH.

How to select the right part

Identify by reference number 42032 and thread R1/2". Taper thread R1/2" (BSPT) and parallel thread G1/2" (BSPP) have identical external diameters – they are easy to confuse but not interchangeable. Check the thread type in the pump bore: with a taper thread the plug enters progressively tighter with each successive turn; with a parallel thread the resistance is uniform throughout. A BSPT plug screwed into a BSPP bore will not seal correctly even with PTFE tape.

Brass material is an integral feature of this plug – when ordering a replacement, confirm the material. A steel plug in an aluminium pump housing under constant water contact can lead to galvanic corrosion that is difficult to distinguish from normal thread wear.

With a brass plug in an aluminium block, do not apply excessive force – brass is softer than steel and at too high a torque the thread flanks may bite into the bore, making later removal difficult.
