Connector 13457 is a D12 quick-release socket with M21x1.5 thread. On the gun side it screws into the M21x1.5 thread of the STARLET 3 gun; on the lance side it forms a D12 quick-release socket – allowing the lance to be connected and disconnected without tools. The component works between the gun and the lance, transferring full working pressure through every connection.

Application

The connector is mounted directly in the outlet of the STARLET 3 gun. The M21x1.5 thread screws into the gun outlet, and the D12 socket on the other side accepts the lance plug or other accessory fitted with a D12 plug. It allows rapid lance changes without unscrewing connections – simply press and release the D12 socket lock. The connector carries full working pressure – the seal must remain intact throughout operation.

Used when repairing a gun with a damaged or leaking socket, replacing a worn D12 locking mechanism, or when the STARLET 3 gun is to be adapted for use with D12 system lances.

Symptoms – when to replace

  • Water leak at the D12 socket-to-lance plug connection – at full working pressure or immediately after the gun is closed.
  • Lance detaches spontaneously during operation – worn D12 socket locking mechanism fails to retain the plug under pressure.
  • Difficulty connecting the lance – the socket does not accept the plug smoothly or the lock does not click into place clearly.
  • Leak at the M21x1.5 thread on the gun side – damaged seal in that area or stripped connector thread.
  • Visible cracking, denting or corrosion on the connector body – particularly around the D12 plug entry point, where stress concentrates when the lance is disconnected under residual pressure.

How to select the right part

Two parameters must match simultaneously: D12 quick-release system on the lance side and M21x1.5 thread on the gun side. Changing either of them means a different part.

Most common ordering mistakes:

M21x1.5 vs M22x1.5 – these are different threads. M22x1.5 is more common in pressure washer accessories; M21x1.5 is specific to the STARLET 3 gun. A connector with an M22 thread can be forced into an M21 opening – damaging the thread in the gun. Confirm the gun thread before purchasing.

D12 socket vs D12 plug – the socket is the female component that accepts the plug. The plug is the male component mounted on the lance. When ordering 13457, you are ordering the socket – the gun-side component, not the lance-side one.

D12 vs other quick-release systems – Kranzle uses several quick-release systems across different accessory ranges. Make sure the lance is fitted with a D12 plug and not another variant before ordering socket 13457.

Compatibility

Connector for the Kranzle STARLET 3 gun with M21x1.5 outlet thread. Lance side: D12 quick-release socket – fits accessories with a D12 plug. Verify the exact compatibility range by reference number 13457.

[faq]

How does M21x1.5 thread differ from M22x1.5, and how can I check which my STARLET 3 gun has?|M21x1.5 has an external thread diameter of 21mm; M22x1.5 has 22mm, with the same 1.5mm pitch. The 1mm difference in diameter means an M22 connector will screw a few turns into an M21 thread with resistance – damaging the thread in the gun. The most reliable verification method is to measure the external diameter of the thread in the gun outlet with a calliper – before screwing anything in. You can also check the serial number or documentation of the STARLET 3 gun.

Does the D12 socket fit all Kranzle lances, or only selected ones?|The D12 socket accepts only lances fitted with a D12 plug. Kranzle uses several quick-release systems across its accessory range – not all lances have a D12 plug. Before purchasing the socket, check the end fitting of your lance: whether it is a D12 plug or another variant. If lances have different end fittings, socket 13457 will only fit those with a D12 plug.

Can the connector be disconnected with residual pressure in the system, or must the gun be depressurised first?|Disconnecting the D12 plug under residual pressure is mechanically possible – the socket mechanism allows it. In practice, however, with residual pressure the socket releases a brief water pulse when the plug is disconnected. It is recommended to press the gun trigger after switching off the washer to depressurise the system before disconnecting the lance – particularly with hot water or when working with detergent. This extends the service life of the socket locking mechanism.
