The control piston (Steuerkolben) is the moving element of the control valve, i.e. the unloader in the pump valve housing. Original Kränzle number: 43071. In the Junior 120 parts catalog it is item 12 in the valve housing assembly (Ventilgehäuse). It is sold as the piston alone, without the spring, guide and seals.
The piston works in the valve housing of the Kränzle Junior pump and controls its switching after the gun is closed. The same assembly contains: the piston guide (43072), the M 6 spring pressure nut (43073), the unloader spring (43074), the Parbaks for the 6 mm stem (14.123 2) and the 8.5 x 2 O-ring (43070). When the piston is worn, these parts usually work together with it, so it's worth assessing the whole assembly before ordering.
Fits Kränzle Junior 120 pressure washers (item 12 in the parts catalog, valve housing). For the Junior 140, sellers list the 43097 set, which contains this piston, but a separate parts list for the 140 model wasn't available, so it's worth confirming that number 43071 itself fits this model before ordering. Does not fit AZ, AM pumps or other Kränzle series.
How does 43071 differ from 43097?|43071 is the control piston alone. 43097 is a set that includes, among other things, an O-ring, Parbaks, piston guide, pressure nut and unloader spring. If wear shows only on the piston, 43071 is enough. When the valve is heavily worn, the set is often more convenient.
I replaced the piston but the pressure still jumps. What should I check next?|The piston guide (43072), the unloader spring (43074) and the seals in the valve housing. A worn guide or a weakened spring gives the same symptom as a damaged piston. Also check the pump valves and the nozzle, since pressure spikes can have another cause.
Does a piston from pressure washers with an AZ or AM pump fit the Junior?|No. These pumps have their own control pistons under different numbers (e.g. 44532, 14.134, 40490). Order strictly by the number from the Junior model's parts list.
I'm replacing the Parbaks on the stem. Does the piston need replacing too?|Not always. If the piston surface is smooth and the piston moves freely in the guide, replacing the seals is enough. Replacing the piston makes sense with scratches, seizing or noticeable resistance.
