Starlock-type cap, 8mm, securing the axle pins in the parking brake mechanism against sliding out. A single-use component, destroyed on removal.

Application

The cap is pressed onto the end of the pin securing the brake pedal (6x50mm, 44.035) or the brake lever/cam (6x40mm, 44.035 1), preventing it from sliding out on its own during operation of the mechanism. Without this retainer, the pin could gradually work its way out of its seat.

Symptoms – when to replace

  • Missing cap found when disassembling the brake mechanism, allowing the pin to shift or slide out on its own.
  • Visible crack or deformation of the cap on inspection.
  • Excessive play in the movement of the pedal or brake lever, despite sound pins themselves.
  • The cap is loose and doesn't hold securely on the end of the pin.

How to choose the right part

Selection is based on reference number 44165 and the 8mm diameter, matched to the pins used in the brake mechanism – the same cap secures both the 6x50mm and 6x40mm variants.

Starlock caps are usually single-use – it's worth having a new cap on hand for reinstallation every time a pin is removed, as the old one is usually damaged during removal.
