Plastic cam-shaped component, converting the rotary movement of the brake pedal into the pressing force applied by the brake pad against the wheel.

Application

The cam sits between the brake pedal (44.022) and the brake pad (44.024). When the pedal is pressed, it rotates, pushing the pad against the wheel surface and locking its rotation – thanks to the cam's shape, a small pedal movement translates into sufficient pressing force.

Symptoms – when to replace

  • The brake doesn't lock the wheel despite a sound pedal and sound brake pad.
  • The cam is cracked, chipped, or has a worn working surface.
  • Noticeable excessive play between the pedal and the pad, even with the pedal pressed fully.
  • Visible cracks in the plastic when the brake mechanism is disassembled.

How to choose the right part

Selection is based on reference number 44023 – the same cam is used across many different Kränzle series, so the catalog number is a more reliable reference than visual comparison.

When replacing the cam, also assess the condition of the pedal (44.022) and the brake pad (44.024) in the same mechanism – ineffective braking despite a new cam often results from wear on these neighboring components.
