O-ring 83x2mm

Static O-ring sealing the pump drive mechanism housing plate at the connection with the housing containing the cam and oil chamber.

Application

The O-ring sits between the housing plate (Gehäuseplatte) and the pump housing, sealing the drive mechanism's oil chamber with the cam and thrust bearing. It prevents leakage of the oil lubricating the mechanism during pump operation.

Symptoms – when to replace

• Visible oil leak at the connection between the housing plate and the pump housing.
• Falling oil level in the drive mechanism despite no visible leak from other pump seals.
• The O-ring is hardened, flattened or cracked when the housing plate is removed.
• Oil traces on the pump housing around the housing plate joint, visible after the machine has stood idle for a while.

How to choose the right part

Selection is based on reference number 43039 and the 83x2mm size – it's worth comparing with the removed O-ring when opening the drive mechanism, since the same size is sometimes used in different locations across different pumps.

When replacing the O-ring, also assess the condition of the oil in the drive mechanism – cloudy or milky oil may indicate an earlier water leak into the oil chamber through a different seal.
