Connector 405221 is the outlet component of the Kranzle AQ series pressure washer pump connecting the pump outlet to the high-pressure hose. On the pump side it screws in with a ¼" thread into the valve block; on the hose side it has an M22x1.5 thread as the working hose connection. Inside the connector there is a built-in check valve mechanism – ball 10mm (12122), spring (141201) and O-ring 18x2 (40016). The connector is available in the version without injector – meaning it has no channel for drawing in detergent.

Application

The connector is mounted in the outlet bore of the AQ pump valve block. The ¼" thread screws into the pump; the M22x1.5 thread accepts the high-pressure hose end. The built-in ball check valve operates in the same way as the valves in the valve block – during the delivery stroke the ball lifts and passes water to the hose; when the pump stops, the spring presses the ball against its seat and prevents water from flowing back from the hose into the pump. The version without injector is intended for use with water only – without connecting a detergent tank through a suction channel.

Replaced when the connector body is mechanically damaged, the M22x1.5 or ¼" thread is damaged, the built-in check valve leaks, or when the existing connector has an injector and the version without one is required.

Symptoms – when to replace

  • Water leak at the M22x1.5 or ¼" thread – damaged thread or absence of proper sealing between the connector and the hose or valve block.
  • Water leak from the connector body under working pressure – worn O-ring 18x2 (40016) or cracked body.
  • Pressure pulsation or water flowing back into the pump on shutdown – worn ball or spring of the built-in check valve.
  • Visible mechanical damage to the body – denting, cracking or corrosion preventing a secure connection to the hose.
  • Stripped or rounded M22x1.5 thread – hose end screws in with resistance or shows play after tightening.

How to select the right part

Three parameters must match simultaneously: pump connection thread ¼", hose connection thread M22x1.5, and the version without injector. Before ordering, confirm that the removed connector has no injector channel – the presence of an additional side bore or suction tube seat indicates the injector version, which has a different reference number.

Connector 405221 contains the same ball mechanism as valve plug 40522 – ball 12122, spring 141201, O-ring 40016 – but these are two different parts with different installation positions. Plug 40522 screws directly into the valve block bore; connector 405221 is an outlet component with two threads connecting the pump to the working hose. They are not interchangeable.

Before fitting new components, clean the ball seat in the connector body – limescale deposits on the seat edge will prevent a tight seal even with a new ball. Fit in reverse order: ball, spring, O-ring. Check for leaks on first start-up.
