Hand-tightened wing nut securing the buffer tank inspection cover. 4 pieces are used per machine.

Application

The nut presses the inspection cover against the buffer tank housing, through which the water inlet runs and the float valve is accessed. The star shape allows tightening and loosening without tools, during periodic checks of the float valve and water filter.

Symptoms – when to replace

  • The nut's arms are broken off or worn down to the point where it can no longer be tightened by hand.
  • The thread inside the nut is worn and the nut spins on the bolt without tightening.
  • The buffer tank cover is loose or unevenly pressed down even though all four nuts are tightened.
  • The nut's plastic is cracked or brittle after prolonged outdoor use.

How to choose the right part

Selection is based on reference number 42619 and the M6 thread – the part is ordered in a set of 4 per machine, so when replacing it's worth checking the condition of all four nuts, not just the damaged one.

When ordering, confirm whether the cover on your unit is still secured with separate star nuts or uses a different fastening method.

Compatibility

quadro 800 TST, quadro 1000 TS, quadro 1000 TST, quadro 1200 TS, quadro 1200 TST – buffer tank inspection cover fastening.

[faq]

Do all 4 nuts need to be replaced at once, or can they be replaced individually?|They can be replaced individually as needed – the nuts don't work as a matched set, each one functions independently.

The nut holds on the bolt but the cover still moves – what else should I check?|Check the condition of the threaded stud itself in the tank housing and the gasket under the cover – if the gasket is collapsed or has lost its resilience, tightening the nuts alone won't seat the cover securely.

Won't tightening with a wrench instead of by hand damage the thread?|The nut is designed for hand-tightening, so if you meet resistance it's better to check the condition of the stud's thread than to force it with a wrench – excessive force is more likely to break the nut's arms than improve the seal.
