Connector 41016 links the water supply installation to the suction port of the Kranzle pressure washer pump. On the pump side it has an external thread 3/8" (AG); on the water supply side it has a 3/4" connection, typical for garden hoses or a mains water installation. Water passes through this connector into the pump before being pressurised by the pistons.

Application

The connector is mounted in the suction port of the pump – the 3/8" thread screws directly into the pump body, and the 3/4" side accepts a hose supplying water from a tap, tank or mains installation. This is the first point in the washer's hydraulic circuit – the correct drawing of water by the pump depends on its tightness and unobstructed flow. A blocked or leaking connector restricts water inflow and can lead to the pump running dry or with too low a flow rate.

Replaced when the body is mechanically damaged, the thread leaks on the pump or water inlet side, or the internal channel is blocked by deposits from unfiltered water.

Symptoms – when to replace

  • Water leak at the 3/8" thread at the connection to the pump – visible with the washer running or immediately after it stops.
  • Leak at the 3/4" connection – a poor seal with the water supply hose.
  • The pump does not draw water despite a connected and open water supply – possible blockage of the internal connector channel by deposits or debris.
  • Visible corrosion, cracking or mechanical damage to the connector body.
  • Damaged thread on either side – difficulty screwing in or play after tightening to the nominal torque.

How to select the right part

Two parameters must match simultaneously: external thread 3/8" on the pump side and the 3/4" connection on the water supply side. Before ordering, confirm the thread type on the 3/4" side against the removed component.

If the problem concerns only blockage of the internal channel with an otherwise intact body and threads – try cleaning and flushing the connector before replacing it, particularly if operating without a filter at the water inlet.

Identify by reference number 41016. If unsure about the 3/4" thread type, measure the diameter with a calliper and compare the thread pitch with the removed component.

Compatibility

Component of the suction port for Kranzle pressure washer pumps. Pump thread: 3/8" external. Water connection: 3/4". Verify the exact compatibility range by reference number 41016.

[faq]

What happens when the inlet connector is partially blocked by deposits but not completely blocked?|Partial blockage restricts water flow to the pump below the required level – this manifests as a drop in working pressure, irregular pump operation, or a characteristic "air-sucking" sound (loud, irregular operation) when the pump attempts to draw more water than the connector can pass. Over the longer term, pump operation with insufficient water inflow accelerates piston seal wear through cavitation. Regular cleaning or use of a pre-filter at the inlet prevents this problem.

Is it worth fitting a mesh filter before connector 41016, or is a filter built into the pump (if present) sufficient?|If the pump does not have its own internal filter at the suction port, an external mesh filter fitted before connector 41016 protects both the connector itself and the suction valves in the valve block from deposits and contaminants from the water installation. When operating with water from a private source (well, tank), the risk of contamination is higher than with mains water – under such conditions a pre-filter is practically mandatory, regardless of the condition of the connector itself.

How to distinguish a leak from the 3/8" thread on the pump side from a leak from the pump itself in the same area?|Unscrew the connector from the pump and examine both threads separately – the external thread of the connector and the internal thread in the pump body. If the thread in the pump is damaged (torn threads, an oval bore), replacing the connector alone will not solve the leak problem. If the threads are intact and the leak occurred anyway – check whether suitable sealing (PTFE tape, sealing paste) was applied during the previous installation and whether the tightening torque was sufficient.
